Urology

The Department of Urology manages disorders of the male and female urinary tracts and male reproductive organs. It includes comprehensive treatment plans for health issues such as prostate and bladder cancer, overactive bladder, male infertility, kidney stones, obstructive problems of the urinary tract, and construction of AV Fistula, among a host of other conditions. Urologists work alongside teams from other departments to offer multidisciplinary care for open, keyhole and laparoscopic surgeries to treat urological conditions.

FAQ's

Yes, if it’s a chronic condition (old, more than three months’ duration). However, if it’s a new problem (acute), there is a 50% chance of recovery with proper treatment.
Dialysis does not cure kidney disease. It simply undertakes the work of the kidneys.
Regular haemodialysis session lasts for 4 hours, done twice or thrice a week. One needs to continue dialysis lifelong or till one has a kidney transplant done.
In the beginning, yes, for insertion of peritoneal dialysis catheter and for 3-4 days’ training. After that, it is done at home. Later, you may need to visit the hospital for regular check-ups once in two or three months.
